Happy New Year! Thank you for your business in 2020. Our Margaret’s Family and Staff look forward to serving you in 2021 and wish you and your family good health and happiness.

This year, Margaret’s celebrates 68 years of wardrobe care and cleaning since Margaret Clutter first opened her sweater cleaning service in La Jolla in 1953. Current owners John and Barbara Horst and their extended family celebrate 33 years of ownership carrying on Margaret’s tradition of excellence in wardrobe care and expanding services to include bridal preservation, vintage and home furnishing fabric restoration and Clean-By-Mail worldwide. Happy Cinco de Mayo! Margaret’s will resume regularly scheduled hours and operations tomorrow, Wednesday, May 6 (5/6/20).

We are continuing home pickup and delivery as well as curbside service and “Fluff & Fold” laundry services.

You can be assured that we have the highest level of safety precautions in place including all employees wearing masks at all times with social distancing in place and additional cleaning of surfaces including door handles and counters for everyone’s protection. If you are dropping off items, please wear a mask while in the store.

Our regularly scheduled hours are

Weekdays 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Saturdays vary with locations: Please check your local store for times. Click here for locations and hours

We will continue to remain closed on Sundays.

If you would like to use CURB SIDE SERVICE at any of our locations, which permits you to remain in your vehicle, simply call 30 minutes ahead to the store numbers provided below and we will prepare your orders for pickup. Then call again upon arrival (if no answer, honk your horn).

For drop-off only, simply call when you arrive.  There is a chance it will take a few minutes to answer, but we will do our very best to accommodate you as quickly as possible.

At our Newport Beach store, please feel free to use the DRIVE UP SERVICE window which also permits you to remain in your vehicle.

To Our Valued Customers and Friends,

Margaret’s is planning to resume limited operations on Monday (3/23) with the reduced store hours below and home pickup and delivery. This is a day-to-day situation as we receive ongoing directives from Governor Newsom and the California state government.

If we are advised to close again, we will post immediately here on this blog, the home page of the website and on social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest). When in doubt about whether we are open, please call your local store. Numbers are listed below.

New Temporary Hours:

9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday thru Friday

10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Saturdays. We will continue to remain closed on Sundays.

We will return to our normal hours of operation as soon as possible.

Our home delivery drivers are working as usual…there are no changes in our pick-up and delivery to normal home routes.

In order to honor the Social Distancing request to the highest degree possible, effective immediately, we will be offering CURB SIDE SERVICE at all our locations permitting you to remain in your vehicle thus limiting your exposure. If you have a pickup, simply call 30 minutes ahead to the store numbers provided below and we will prepare your orders for pickup. Then call again upon arrival (if no answer, honk your horn). Due to the Governor Newsom’s “Stay at Home” mandate issued last night, we made the difficult decision to temporarily close all Margaret’s stores and shut down all services effective immediately. 

At Margaret’s Cleaners, nothing is more important than ensuring the health and wellness of our staff and customers.

As soon as we are able, we will reopen and let you know immediately.

starting this Saturday March 21, 2020.
