With the news of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) spreading, we want to proactively share details about our cleaning procedures for handling viruses and bacteria at Margaret’s Cleaners and the steps we are taking to ensure the safety of our customers and staff.
To help prevent the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19, we are closely monitoring and following the guidelines and recommendations on personal hygiene and cleaning standards set in place by the World Health Organization (WHO) and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Dry Cleaning and Laundry Institute (DLI).
We want to assure you that our cleaning processes are effective against viruses and our claim is backed by the CDC who advised that the dry cleaning process is effective on viruses. Our processes are above the temperature needed to inactivate viruses, which is 160 degree Fahrenheit according to the World Health Organization. As an added measure, all washed and laundered items will be processed with an additional dry cleaning step providing the higher temperature as an added assurance for virus mitigation. This added dry cleaning step with laundry is already part of our arsenal and often utilized to remove grease and oils when laundry processes alone prove to be insufficient. This proven technique adds no associated risk for cleaning, but does add assurance for virus control.
We have always maintained high standards for hygiene and sanitation, and as an extra precautionary measure, we have increased the frequency of cleaning our stores, counter tops, delivery vehicles and other surfaces in all Margaret’s locations. We will continue to monitor the situation, adjust our cleaning processes as needed, and update you on our proactive response plan accordingly.
We do not want to spread fear, but rather reassure you that we are here to make sure your clothing and household textiles are disinfected and sanitized.
